Sadly this place has been the centre of many terrorist activities and insurgency over the past few years. Also being a border state, sharing borders with two not so friendly neighbours makes the situation a little bit more stressful. Safety is a major concern for the travellers travelling to this state as situation may turn hostile at any time. However the government of India has taken stock of the situation and provides an effective security cover all over the state. During the time of emergency the tourists are provided extra care and security and arrangements are made for their safe departure from the state in the protection of the army. This ensures the safe exit of the tourists from the state when situations turn bad. Also when the government feels like the situation is going to be hostile; it restricts the entry of people to the state. A proper list of do’s and don’ts are issued by different departments of the government like the tourism board, home ministry, and defence ministry for the travellers visiting the state. These guidelines help the tourists to avoid places that are disturbed and regulate their activities to avoid any sort of trouble while in the state. The security forces are strictly instructed to pay extra attention to the problems of the tourists and provide them with immediate relief in the event of any untoward incident. Different kinds of passes and permits are issued by the government for security reasons. So there are certain parts of the state that needs special permits and passes to visit, which are issued by respective government departments after proper verification.
